Newport is the most concentrated wedding venue destination in New England. Gilded Age mansions, oceanfront estates, yacht clubs with America’s Cup history, and beach hotels with Atlantic sunset views. All in one small Aquidneck Island town.

Newport Mansion Wedding Venues
The Preservation Society of Newport County owns several Gilded Age mansions on Bellevue Avenue. These remain the most iconic Newport wedding choice.
- Rosecliff Mansion. The most popular Newport wedding mansion. Heart shaped staircase, oceanfront terrace, the largest Gilded Age ballroom. Up to 250 guests. Site fees run roughly 18,000 to 35,000 before food and beverage minimums.

- Marble House. Alva Vanderbilt’s 1892 Versailles inspired mansion. Chinese Tea House lawn ceremonies. Up to 175 guests. Site fees run roughly 18,000 to 35,000 before food and beverage minimums.
- Salve Regina University (Ochre Court). Richard Morris Hunt’s 1892 mansion on the Salve Regina campus: a three storey Great Hall, a stone staircase under stained glass, flagstone terraces and an ocean lawn that runs to the Cliff Walk. Up to 200 guests inside, larger under a tent. Rental is $30,000 for a Friday or Saturday from May to October, $25,000 on other days, $20,000 to $25,000 off season, and roughly half for couples with a university affiliation; security, housekeeping, insurance and one of four approved caterers are extra. Oceanfront & Cliff Walk Venues
Newport’s Cliff Walk venues use the ocean as their literal backdrop. Mansion architecture, waves, and dramatic landscape working together in every frame.
- Castle Hill Inn. 40 acres at the western tip of Aquidneck Island, with views of the harbor and Castle Hill Lighthouse. Up to 200 guests. Pricing sits in a similar range to the Preservation Society mansions.
- OceanCliff. 19th century mansion on the Cliff Walk. More accessible price point than Castle Hill. Up to 200 guests.
- The Chanler at Cliff Walk. Boutique luxury hotel, intimate wedding weekends. Up to 100 guests.
Newport Hotel Wedding Venues
For couples whose guests fly in from out of state. Ceremony, reception, lodging, and welcome events all in one place.
- The Vanderbilt. Auberge Resort boutique hotel in a 1909 mansion. Rooftop deck with best harbor views in Newport. Up to 130 guests.
- Hotel Viking. 1926 Spanish Colonial Revival downtown. Largest hotel ballroom in Newport. Up to 300+ guests.
Yacht Club & Sailing Venues
Newport is the sailing capital of America. Working harbors, real sailing programs, nautical character that elevates the wedding aesthetic.
- Belle Mer (Goat Island). 270 degree water views. Newport Bridge and downtown skyline backdrop. Purpose built for weddings. Up to 300 guests.
- New York Yacht Club Harbor Court. Member sponsored only. Turn of the century mansion with private harbor. Up to 200 guests.
- Ida Lewis Yacht Club. Named for the legendary Newport lighthouse keeper. Private lighthouse on site. Up to 150 guests.
Vineyard, Estate & Bristol Venues
For couples whose vision is more pastoral than mansion. Newport plus the surrounding Aquidneck and Bristol options.
- Newport Vineyards (Middletown). 60 acres of vines, converted barn reception. Closer to Sonoma than New England farm aesthetic. Up to 200 guests.
- Mount Hope Farm (Bristol). 200 acres of working farm on Mount Hope Bay. Orchard, gardens, bay views. Up to 200 guests.
- Glen Manor House (Portsmouth). 1923 Italian Renaissance Revival on the Sakonnet River. 50 waterfront acres. Up to 200 guests.
- Aldrich Mansion (Warwick). 70 room Italian villa on 75 oceanfront acres. Larger weddings up to 400 guests. Site fees start around 10,000, one of the lower entry points among the mansions.

- What time does the venue close and what’s our breakdown window? Mansion venues typically end at 10 PM.
- What’s the wind and weather contingency for outdoor ceremonies? Newport gusts in summer.

Newport is the East Coast capital of the old money wedding aesthetic. The Gilded Age mansions on this list are not stylized to look like old money. They are old money, built between 1840 and 1900 by the families who invented the term. How much does an Ochre Court wedding cost?
Salve Regina publishes its fees. The Ochre Court rental is $30,000 for a Friday or Saturday from May through October, or $17,500 with a university affiliation, $25,000 on other in season days, and $20,000 to $25,000 from November to April. Security, housekeeping and event insurance are billed on top and catering comes from four approved caterers, so most couples start above $31,000 before food and drink. A full Ochre Court wedding for 150 guests typically lands north of $80,000.
When is wedding season in Newport, Rhode Island?
May through October is Newport wedding season. Peak months are June, September, and early October when the weather cooperates and the harbor is full of yachts. Summer Saturdays at the top mansions book a year or more in advance. October weddings benefit from cooler portrait conditions and the New England fall light. Off season weddings inside mansions also happen in winter for couples wanting indoor only events.
Can you have a wedding at a Newport mansion?
Yes. The Preservation Society of Newport County, which owns Rosecliff, Marble House, and The Elms, runs an established wedding program at each property. Salve Regina University’s Ochre Court, Aldrich Mansion, and Auberge’s The Vanderbilt also host private weddings. Each mansion has different rules around capacity, alcohol, and photography access. Most mansion weddings cap at one hundred fifty to two hundred fifty guests.
How far in advance should I book a Newport wedding venue?
Eighteen to twenty four months is standard for peak Saturday dates at Rosecliff, Castle Hill Inn, Belle Mer, and The Chanler. Friday and Sunday dates open up twelve months out. Off peak months like April, November, and December are often available six to nine months out.
How do Newport mansion weddings differ from Cape Cod weddings?
Newport mansion weddings lean formal, historic, and architecturally rich, with marble ballrooms and grand staircases setting the tone. Cape Cod weddings lean coastal, casual, and oceanfront, with sand and beach grass as the dominant backdrop. Newport is roughly a ninety minute drive from Boston. Cape Cod is roughly a sixty to ninety minute drive depending on which town.
