Photography pricing is the least transparent corner of the wedding industry, and it does not need to be. I have photographed over 200 New England weddings, my own pricing is fully public, and I see what this market actually charges from the inside. This guide gives you the real ranges, what moves the number up or down, and how to compare quotes that look similar but are not.
Most couples marrying on Cape Cod or in Boston in 2026 spend between $4,500 and $9,000 on an experienced wedding photographer. Editorial and luxury studios run $7,000 to $15,000 and up.
Recent industry pricing surveys put an 8 hour day with a single experienced photographer in the Boston market at roughly $6,300 on average, and closer to $7,700 once a second photographer is added. The statewide Massachusetts average sits lower, around $4,400, pulled down by smaller weddings and inland markets. Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Newport typically match or exceed Boston pricing because of travel logistics and the concentration of luxury venues.

Full transparency, since this is our guide: collections start at $7,000 for 8 hours with two photographers and an engagement session included, and $9,000 for the 10 hour full day which adds a handmade 10×10 fine art album and travel across New England. Multi day and destination weekends start at $15,000 with up to three photographers and 35mm film integration.
Elopements start at $3,000. Every number is on the pricing page, which is the point: you should never have to inquire just to learn a price.

A $6,500 quote and an $8,500 quote can be $500 apart in real value once you normalize them. Put every quote through the same five questions.
The deeper version of this checklist is in how to choose a luxury wedding photographer, and if you are still building your shortlist, start with the best Cape Cod wedding photographers guide.
For a hundred guests on Cape Cod, venue and catering alone typically land between $35,000 and $90,000, which puts total budgets for a classic Cape wedding well into six figures at the luxury venues. Photography at $7,000 to $12,000 is usually 8 to 12% of total spend. It is also the only vendor category still working for you fifty years after the cake is gone, which is why the classic planner advice holds: book the venue, then the photographer, before anything else.
Around $4,400 statewide for a single photographer package per recent industry surveys, but that average blends very different markets. Boston and the coastal wedding regions run meaningfully higher: most couples there spend $4,500 to $9,000 for experienced full day coverage.
Typical Boston pricing for an experienced photographer runs $5,000 to $8,000 for a full day, with 8 hour single photographer coverage averaging about $6,300 and two photographer coverage about $7,700. High end editorial studios in Boston run $9,500 to $16,000 and beyond.
Cape Cod matches or exceeds Boston: $4,500 to $9,000 covers most established professionals, and editorial studios with two photographer coverage run $7,000 to $15,000. Budget coverage below $4,500 exists but usually means one shooter and lighter editing. Perla Images starts at $7,000 with two photographers on every wedding.
Over roughly 75 guests, yes. The lead photographer physically cannot cover both getting ready locations, and during portraits nobody is photographing cocktail hour. When a package includes the second photographer, the per hour math usually beats adding one to a cheaper quote later.
Move the date, not the quality. Friday, Sunday, and weekday weddings are easier to book, and so are off season dates November through April. Trimming an hour of coverage saves more than trimming quality, and skipping the album at booking is fine because you can always add it later. The one thing not to do is hire on price alone and hope: reshooting a wedding is not a thing.
